Carrie's Irish Adventure

In February, 2001, Carrie started talking with Bill on taking
her Dad to Ireland for his 60th birthday. This was going to be a REALLY quick
five day trip, and it was her baby...something she wanted to plan. And plan she did!
This quick trip, by the time all was said and done, turned into a three week
romp through Europe! Carrie, her Dad and his wife Janis, and her brother
Jimmy and his wife Darby departed in late August for Amsterdam, the start of
the trip. Quickly terrorizing Europe city by city, they made their way through
Brugge, London, Paris, and finally, Ireland. The plan called for Bill to join them for the last
week of the trip in Dublin that day - 9/11/01. At 6am PST, Bill was in line to get on a plane
to join them, but this was not to be. The gang got over this quickly enough, instead toasting
him in every bar in Dublin (at least, this was their excuse) :-) Carrie was quite proud of herself, and deservedly so. She put together the
adventure of a lifetime - one that will be cherished by all involved. And, memories being
short, they'll someday be allowed back into these cities. Here are some memories of that trip.

Hanging out in the Delta Crown Room in Atlanta, getting ready to head out.	A short plane ride across the pond, and the gang lands in Amsterdam.	The Amsterdam mass-transit system. The U.S. could learn something from this.

The gang left Amsterdam to plunder Brugge, Belgium.	Carrie and her dad hanging out in a Brugge pub.	The gang then moved on to Paris to be taunted for being Americans, and to see Le Louvre.

Moving on to London, the gang hits Shakespeare's Theatre for a bit of before dinner entertainment. Unfortunately, William was nowhere to be found.	While in London, the boys subtlely try to explore the concept of innuendo.	Unfortunately, they were dealing with experts.

Moving on to Dublin, the gang discovers the nice gentlemen sitting next to them are actually the evenings entertainment.	The gang then went to Blarney Castle. And, of course, if you're in Blarney, then.....	...you have to kiss the Blarney Stone! Here, Carrie's dad finally fulfills his dream!

In route towards Shannon (the end of the road), the gang stops at a local Monastary.	Dingle Bay - where the opportunity for Irish jokes abound....	The Last Dinner in Shannon...
